Fourways residents are experiencing a greater sense of security following a notable reduction in residential break-ins within Sector 1, according to recent figures released by the Fourways Community Policing Forum (CPF) Neighbourhood Watch. The initiative, which has bolstered patroller numbers and implemented new surveillance strategies, credits its success to a more integrated approach involving both volunteers and private security.
Over the last six months, reported residential burglaries in areas including Dainfern, Broadacres, and Lonehill East have seen a decrease of approximately 25% compared to the previous period. This positive trend is a direct result of increased visibility of patrollers, enhanced communication channels, and swift response times to suspicious activities reported by residents. The watch has also been proactive in hosting workshops on home security best practices, further empowering the community.
Mr. Sipho Dlamini, Chairperson of the Fourways CPF Sector 1, highlighted the critical role of collaboration. "Our success is a testament to the dedication of our volunteer patrollers and the unwavering support from residents and local security companies. We've proven that when the community stands together, we can make a tangible difference in crime prevention," Dlamini stated. He further emphasized the ongoing need for residents to report all incidents, no matter how minor, to ensure accurate crime mapping and resource allocation.
The CPF encourages more residents to join the Neighbourhood Watch or participate in their regular meetings to contribute to the ongoing safety efforts. Future plans include expanding their surveillance network and introducing new technology to further deter criminal activity, ensuring Fourways remains a safe and desirable place to live and work amidst its rapid development.
